Great News!
----- 12.16.2009 --------
First of all, I'm happy to say that I've found a contact as a VMware Consultant for the next few months. I have been very impressed with my network of friends and family in how helpful they've been in directing work my way or getting the word out about me. I'm feeling much more confident about this going out on my own thing as a consultant, as well as with my photography. I'm sure when the next contract ends, I'll be back in scary-ville, especially with a child on the way, but I am looking forward to it :) Life sure is exciting!

The other thing I wanted to mention is about my photography. I've finally got a site together that's a little more than a simple one-page logo splash screen. Head on over to ArgeeImages.ca and have a look. I put the site together using some open source PHP code from PixelPost and did some custom editing. It took a bit of effort to learn the ins and outs of it and get my photos all formatted so they look best, but I think it was worth it. I also did a little more logo and branding work and I'm quite happy with the way it's coming together. It's a start atleast and will evolve as time goes on. Click on the screen shot (posted for historical reference to how my site looked WAY back in 2009....to be viewed again in many years) below to hit the site.

What else is new? Besides the coming change in my work environment, things on the homefront are great. Kim & "Baby Thunder" are doing well. We've just about got our Christmas shopping down and will head down to Windsor next week to celebrate. I hope to post again before Christmas, but if I don't, the staff at robgirard.com wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to those that celebrate something other than the mighty Xmas. That's all for now.... I'll probably pop in another DVD of Jericho Season 1 and watch it with Kim soon. We've been having a miny Jericho-watching marathon, renting it from Blockbuster. Cheaper than owning it, and I'll probably never watch it again anyway. It's pretty good so far, but I don't think it's nearly realistic enough to simulate what America may look like after an EMP. It's MUCH more cheery than the what the poor folks in "One Second After" went through, which I think would be closer to reality. OK, I'll stop before I get into another doomsday rant. After all, it's the holidays! Cheers folks! :)

I'm back in the city now, and so is Kim. Kim was off to Calgary for a few days (Sunday -> Today) to attend the CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers) conference. And on Tuesday, I headed out of the city to join my neighbour Chris up at his cottage north of Peterborough. Beatiful place! I had a nice, somewhat relaxing time. I say "somewhat" because it was pretty busy... lots of shovelling snow, but it was very enjoyable! But not quite "relaxing". I headed back into the city today to pick Kim up @ the airport. Fortunately, I beat out another snow storm on the way out.

Tuesday, before heading up to the cottage, I had another interview. Really not sure how it went, but there are more coming at me, possibly over the next few weeks. After the interview, I was on the road by 2pm. About 30 minutes after I got there, the winter storm started and yesterday (wed), we got 25cm's up there! Winter is definitely here! Back in the city, not too much snow on the ground, but it is cold and windy out!

I've been pretty busy over the past couple weeks, but none of the bigger events are coming to mind. So, I'll just leave this post off here. Oh, and I'll post a picture of "Pig", the blue jay from Chris' cottage for you. Cheers!
