First Father's Day
----- 2010.06.22 --------
On Sunday, I got the opportunity to celebrate Father's Day on the other side for the first time ever! Kim and Alice worked together to give me the world's greatest father's day card. And presentation was amazing too! In the wee hours of Father's Day (OK... Still Saturday night in my mind), I went into Alice's room to feed her. In her crib was my card :) Here's an image of the front of the card, but what was written inside was for my eyes only (eyes that teared right up!). Oh, and in case you're confused by the blue hoodie on a little girl (gasp! imagine that... not wearing pink!)... I picked it out for our little unborn Alice, back when we were pretty much convinced she was a boy. But she's way too cute in it for her not to get some use out of it... even if every stranger on the street tells us we have a cute son. lol

A day or two late, I also want to give a shout out to my Dad(s)! Yes, strange year this one... not only am I celebrating Father's Day as a father, but I have a new one as well.... my father-in-law! I am a very lucky guy having access to 2 men that are both incredibly intelligent with great advice, but also lucky enough that their expertise don't lap one anothers' too much.... so I have even more unique expertise to draw from! Looking forward to seeing them both soon... my Dad up at the Nutshell for our annual camping trip, and then my Pa-in-Law out west when we fly out for Yvonne (Kim's sister) and Steve's wedding in July. Looking forward to both! :)

What's new with me? Still on the hunt for some work while enjoying family time with Kim & Alice. While trying to "find" work, there's a lot of opportunity to create work. Although I'm keeping all details under wraps for now, there may be more to this story in the coming months. If you're curiosity is peaked, contact me in private. Well... not too much to report since last time (I don't think....). A couple industry conferences and some awesome opportunity to network with some very smart folks, but other than that... status quo. Hope all's well with all of you! Cheers!

VMware Certified... again :)
----- 2010.06.09 --------
Great news! Last week, on Monday, I wrote my VCP 4 exam. And I am happy to report that I also passed! So, I am now a VCP (VMware Certified Professional)... again. Again? Yes... back in 2005 I wrote the exam, but felt it would be worthwhile to upgrade it to the latest version so that I can continue on to their new designations: VCAP (VMware Certified Advanced Professional) and hopefully a VCDX (VMware Certified Design Expert), which is VMware's highest rank. Speaking of VMware, I have am attending one of their seminars tomorrow and look forward to hearing about the latest things they are cooking up. And what or who is a VMware, the non-technical readers are asking? In a nutshell, they make virtualization technology that make my job as an IT pro much more interesting! But for more info, check out their website: vmware.com.

And in other news, I have been keeping busy with my photography (argeeimages.ca). A weekend ago, I shot headshots for a dozen or so people that are attending the ProTrack Speaker's Academy with Kim. I offered up my photography services at a heavily reduced rate as a promotion to drum up some referral business for Argee Images, while at the same time building upon my experience and portfolio. Speaking of which... I really should add some of the new shots to my portfolio. All in good time I guess...

Last Wednesday, Kim, Alice & I headed up to the Nutshell (AKA our property up north) to get out of the city for a while. We stayed until Sunday and Alice was great! Now that Alice is here, I didn't think I'd get a chance to go up often, but after this past trip, I think we'll be able to make it just as often as last year, if not more! :) For some pictures, check out the entry I posted on TheGirards.com.

Well, early morning tomorrow. I've got to get up around 5:30 to try and make it to the VMware event for 7am. Since my job hunt continues, this may be a good opportunity to make some connections and do some good old fashioned networking. That's all for now... hope you're all keeping well!
